I have developed this weird fascination with place settings. The art of placement, the table elements and the pretty details that tie everything together. I don’t know where this obsession stems from but I have a feeling it might have something to do with the endless hours I spend researching weddings or my desire to someday host a dinner party.
Well, today I had the opportunity to attend a Tabletop Fashion Show at a local design center and learned a few tricks of the trade. First and foremost, table clothes are so 80′s. Enjoy!
Do’s and Don’t for a dining room table
Do chose flowers that are fragrant free for floral arrangements and centerpieces.
Don’t be afraid of color.
Do use a few smaller centerpieces down the center of a large table instead of just one big and bulky centerpiece.
Don’t overwhelm the table.
Do showcase your table by keeping the table-cloth off. For a modern alternative try a nice piece of fabric or vinyl that is custom made to fit just the top of your table.
Don’t be afraid of floral arrangements with height. Use a clear vase so guests can still interact.
Do change-up the art in the room to create a different look
Not sure how to properly set a table? No problem. Check out this website for details.
