Black, White and Fabulous

When I was planning my bridal shower a few years ago I put together a Coco Chanel inspiration board to help with the planning process (you can view the board here). In the end, the party had a LBD dress code, finger foods and sparkling French lemonade and party favors consisting of tiny lotions from Bath and Body Works. We wiped away crumbs with cocktail napkins printed with Chanel inspired quotes, sipped from paper straws, and  nibbled on petite desserts…I think.  It wasn’t a fancy event, but my theme was as prominent as it could be with a limited budget and the night was shared with friends and family. Since I just celebrated my second wedding anniversary, I decided to play around with another Chanel inspired inspiration board…Because a party should be two things — classy and fabulous — and I was bored while watching the Real Housewives of New York.

Enjoy! xoxo

Thirsty Thursday: The Dreamer

Meet The Dreamer. A simple cocktail made with pink lemonade, Bacardi rum, and a dollop of cool whip.

This drink can be prepared in a large batch before a party and served in a pretty decanter or beverage server.  If you want to get super fancy….replace the Cool Whip with cotton candy and you got yourself a party in a glass.  Enjoy!
Happy planning! xoxo

I Think I’m Forgetting Somethig….

Apparently the closer the wedding gets, the faster the days fly by.  We officially have less than a month until our wedding. I’m pretty sure it’s about 18 days according to The Knot and Project Wedding. (I’m not sure if I love or hate the daily emails telling me how much longer I have, don’t get me wrong they are helpful….but also a bit frightening.) and I am having mini panic attacks daily.

Let me explain….

I have no wedding coordinator, my catering manager is no longer working with the hotel (but I was assigned someone new), I thought it would be a great idea to start grad school 25 days before my wedding, 20 page research papers are my new favorite thing, I went way over budget, I am not working, I’ve been interviewing for jobs in between dress fittings, I fell off a horse twice and have a pretty black and blue that covers my whole right arm (not the fashion accessory I thought I would have to pull off and when I say my whole right arm I am not exaggerating-see picture below), Because of my injury my bridal tone-up plan has been put on hold, Cookies are my new favorite food, My fiance is breaking out in hives, We are having houseguests before and after the wedding, My no kids allowed wedding has turned into Romper Room, Suddenly everyone wants to bring a date to the reception, My to-do list keeps getting longer and longer, One of my bridesmaids who is getting married next year decided to have her bridal shower the weekend before my wedding, My bridal shower is on a Tuesday(three days before my wedding) and I have an Organizational Behavior midterm the next day, I keep having nightmares that my fiance’s tux is way too big, We still haven’t planned a honeymoon, I am not sure I like my wedding dress or the bridesmaids dresses, I’m freaking out that I’m going to cry and I never cry, I’m afraid no one will have fun….and I am petrified that I am going to fall while walking in 5″ heels down the extremely long and shiny aisle of the church.  I think I’m forgetting something but I’m not sure exactly what it is yet.

is this normal?

Here it is….My poor arm…

{Things you shouldn’t do before a wedding….ride a horse and fall off twice.  I have no idea how I managed to fall on the inside of my arm and I am not sure why I got back on just to get thrown off again.  I’m thinking, tattoo coverup make-up the day of the wedding if the bruising doesn’t go away by then}

Happy planning! xoxo and stay safe!

Bridal Shower Gifts!

Not only am I planning a wedding, going back to school, attempting to become domesticated and trying not to lose my mind. I am also helping with my bridal shower that will be hosted at my house two days before my wedding. (help!)

Luckily there are sites like Pinterest. While searching for DIY ideas, I came across this super fun idea.  A bouquet of kitchen goods.  How cute! And it looks pretty simple.

I am going to start searching every home store for the kitchen goods and I plan on putting at least three together to give out as gifts at the bridal shower.

Happy planning! xoxo

A Coco Chanel Bridal Shower-Classy and Fabulous

I’m up in the air about a bridal shower.  I started planning one. Stopped. Started again. And finally gave up.  As much as I want to have a party, the thought of putting something together, planning and paying for it myself was a little overwhelming.  In a perfect world, my bridesmaids would come together to plan something small but it doesn’t seem like that’s an option. Well, that was my thinking until my fiance’s sister called the other day and told me to send her some of my ideas. I’m not sure if her delegating will get the girls on board but it did get me thinking of some new ideas.  And that is when my Coco Chanel inspired bridal shower was born. Suddenly, my creativity was in full force and visions of macaroons started dancing around in my pretty little head.

The party will have a little black dress only dress code, finger foods and sparkling French lemonade (the daintier the snacks the better), chic black and white invites, and party favors consisting of tiny lotions from Bath and Body Works, preferably their new scent, Paris Amour. We will wipe away crumbs with cocktail napkins printed with Chanel inspired quotes, sip from stripped paper straws and for dessert, we will feast on petite desserts, Petit Fours, and of course French macaroons.

The decor would be simple and sophisticated with a delicate color palette of pink, black and white, fresh flowers will grace the tables and there will be lots of candles.  A perfect event, until I realized I was back to planning my own bridal shower….
