Preppy Monogram

I have a new fascination with monogram.  From pretty necklaces to shabby chic decor, I am smitten! I wasn’t always interested in initials but after seeing the monogram necklaces everywhere the trend started to grow on me. Here are a few of my favorite things.

1. Monogram Wood Wall Mount from girlytwirly.com

2. Monogram Necklace from Etsy.com

3. Monogram Pillows inspired by pinterest.com

4. Monogram Wreath inspired by pinterest.com

5. Monogram Party Decor inspired by pinterest.com

Save Money on Calligraphy…

and buy a custom stamp.

I put it off for over a month and now the time has come to tackle the “Thank You” cards. But before I hand write my return address on each envelope I opted for a chic custom stamp by Rachel Carl and Co. (like the one shown above) to help sign, seal and deliver my letters of gratitude.

It’s no secret that I am obsessed with Etsy.com and of course that was the first place I looked when I decided to purchase a personalized stamp. For about $40 I found a design that I loved and I can not wait to start stamping…and thanking people for their generous gifts!

For each guests envelope I plan on printing each address myself with the help a free font that I found on a website. (check here, here, and here for samples and ideas) The fonts are easy to install and can be used for so many other wedding and event things.

As far as thank you cards, I plan on ordering from Wedding Paper Divas and I am leaning toward this design:

Top 5 Etsy Picks

Whatever your theme or budget Etsy.com is a great place to spend hours searching for the perfect detail for your big day.  As a been there done that bride here are a few of my favorite vendors.  They were all super easy to work with, professional, proficient  and worth every penny.

::Save The Date Cards and Invitations:: by By Invitation Only
My Save the Date cards were something I struggled with make a decision on.  Why? Well because this is the first thing your guest would ever see of your wedding and the wrong save the date can send the wrong message.  I ordered from By Invitation Only and could not be happier with the quality of the product.  I loved my Save the Date cards and could not be happier with my order.

::Cute Cake Topper:: by AnnaCrafts
I toyed with the idea of just ordering a simple monogram for our cake topper but simple sometimes doesn’t cut it.  I searched Etsy for something a little whimsical and I feel in love everything Anna Crafts creates.  Her attention to detail is amazing and my topper could not have turned out better.  Below is the actual topper I ordered. It was designed to resemble my dress, she included my Valentino shoes and my grooms Chuch Taylors, and my long veil.  The topper was shipped from Korea in record speed – Next day and only $25 for shipping.

::Sign In Tree::
by Bleudetoi
You wedding is a work of art and your guest book should not be over looked.  I ordered the medium twisted oak tree and can not wait to hang it up. Bleudetoi is an awesome company and everyone commented on how cool they thought the tree was. Here’s a tip.  Have your bridesmaids add their fingerprints and signatures first before you place it out.  That way no one gets confused.

::Unique and Edible Escort and Seating Ideas:: by Vintage Confections
I spared no detail when it came to my wedding and I knew my escort cards were no exception. Sure the normal tent cards could have worked great but how could you pass up pretty pink lollipops that come in a variety of colors.  I ordered three sets of numbers 1-9 in cotton candy flavor.  These pretty pops not only look good they are delicious.  They are creamy and dreamy and do not taste artificial at all.  If you are plan on ordering you can give one number to each guest or one per couple – which is what I did.  They run under $4 per lollipop.

::Garter:: by Brook Hunsaker Country Couture
My garter was a little bit glamorous, a little bit vintage and a whole lot of fun!  I knew I couldn’t just have a regular garter so when I started searching for my thigh high accessory I went straight to Etsy and found a few I feel in love with.  At under $30 I knew it was meant to be and Brook was super easy to work with and very accommodating considering I order just days before the wedding.  It was really comfortable and came as a set with a garter to toss.

Top It Off: Cake Toppers

So, we picked out our cake. It was a pretty hard task, tasting all the different flavors and deciding on only one. But we did it and we will be serving our guests a vanilla rum cake with a hint of almond. The three-tier cake will be adorned with rhinestones and maybe a few orchids.

To top it off I thought I wanted rhinestone initials until I found this:

I found the cute topper on Etsy and fell head over heels in love! The toppers are completely personalized and you can pick a theme or go with something a little less complicated.  They are hand-made by Anna Crafts and are reasonably priced at $150 and up.   The cake toppers are not only a great extra detail at the wedding but also a keepsake that can be cherished forever.

Here are a few of my favorites!

I will be placing an order and will share my pick soon!  You can find more cake topper creations from Anna Crafts here.

Table Numbers…Good Enough To Eat!

With only two months left before my wedding I am nearing the end of my planning. The next thing on my list to tackle is the table cards.  I toyed with different ideas and was pretty certain I was just going to go with the classic tent card until I saw theses…

Edible table numbers that can be used as escort cards with the help of a DIY flag with each guest’s name.  I am in love!

I found them on Etsy and they come in a variety of styles and flavors.  I am thinking about ordering the exact style above for my guests in either strawberry or watermelon.

They are a little more than the average tent cards but they can be used as a wedding favor too so it kind of evens out.

The numbers are sold by Vintage Confections in sets of three for $9.75 and you can find them here.

Have any unique table number and escort card ideas?  Let me know!  I need all the creative ideas I can get!

Sealed With A Kiss: Wedding Invitations

I must confess I sometimes wait until last-minute to do things because I feel like I have tons of time to get them done. Case in point – my wedding invitations. I have yet to order them and my wedding is in less than three months.  So what’s a bride-to-be to do?

Panic, freak out and blame my mother.

It’s not that I have put off looking for the perfect invitations.  It’s just that I have been spending all my time looking for the perfect invitations.

Typically, you should order your invites at least six months before the wedding and send them out between eight to twelve weeks before the big day.  If you are planning a destination wedding, the times will differ.  Be courtesy to your guests and give them ample time to book a flight and hotel.

For the past day I have been scrambling to get everything put together to a designer I found by way of Etsy and anxiously waiting by my computer to approve proofs.  I am about three weeks behind schedule. But luckily I’m having a small wedding and I sent out Save the Dates.

Etsy has been a life saver during the wedding planning process and I have found some really interesting items that will add some personality and a DIY feel to the reception.(Check here for some of my finds.)

The main thing I was striving for when looking for invitations was clean and modern with a splash of whimsical glamour.  Way harder to find that it sounds.  I was lucky to come across Ink and Ivory and I am pleased with the results so far.

The text for the invite was probably the easiest part of the ordeal. I searched a few high-end websites and added my own twist on the wording.  For invitation wording ideas click here and here. If you’re looking for non-traditional kitschy wording click here.

{Etsy Shop}

Here are a few things I learned during my ordering process.

1) Order six months ahead of time to avoid unnecessary headaches and panic attacks

2) Stick to a theme and color scheme.  It will make choosing a style easier.

3) Don’t be afraid to experiment with wording. You can still create a formal invitation without the formal wording.

4) When in doubt ask for a sample, proof or additional revisions.  Don’t settle.  If something doesn’t look right, speak up.  Your designer can’t always read your mind. Oh, and pictures help a lot!

5) Don’t stress out. You can always ask for a rush delivery and to help make mailing a little easier you can always pay for pre-printed addresses on the envelopes and invitations pre-assembled and stuffed.

PS. I will post my invites soon!

Happy Planning! enjoy xoxo

Proclaim Your Date in Style

You’ve set the date, picked your venue and now you want to spread the news of the big day. Sending out a save the date card is the perfect way to let guests know when to pencil you in.

Similar to a wedding invitation, save the date cards follow the same etiquette guidelines and allow brides to add a little pizzaz when announcing their day.  But honestly, If I see another postcard or magnet I am going to scream!

Instead of taking the traditional route here are a few examples to help hype your big day!
